Fighting Those Summertime Blues

Although the summer days continue to be busy here at OMS, I know that some families struggle with how to keep their tweens and teens productive during the summer.  I found a blog post from a group of moms who put together some great ideas.  If you find yourself out of fresh ideas, hopefully, you find something here that will help you keep your child actively engaged this summer.

Summertime Learning at OMS

Summertime at Oak Middle School is usually marked by a quieter, slower pace.  Not so this summer!  Much of our building is abuzz with activity and learning.  In addition to hosting the summer academic program for Sherwood, Oak, and Shrewsbury High School, we are hosting two private summer programs, Center Stage, a youth theatre company set to run Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, on July 6th and 7th, (For more info see http://www.cstageproductions.com/) and Coding Camp, a computer camp experience for children.  (For more info see http://www.codeworkshops.com/workshop-details/?gp).

Also, we are so excited to host the Middle School Summer Extensions program, an enrichment program running from June 28th through July 25th.  Under the direction of Karen Gutekanst, this program offers dozens of enrichment workshops and courses for middle school students.  Openings are still available so come to OMS, sign up, and have some fun this summer!

Just a reminder that we are here for you in the main office all summer.  Our summer office hours are 8am to 3pm.

Enjoy this beautiful summer weather!
